Second Harvest and Chick-fil-A at Roosevelt Square will provide a boxed meal to a child for each $5 voucher sold. Each meal consists of an original Chick-fil-A® Chicken Sandwich, bag of potato chips and a brownie. Once enough vouchers have been sold to serve all of the children participating in a summer program, the Chick-fil-A® Cow and/or Kid Cow will deliver the lunches and host a fun Chick-fil-A® Day for the children.
Second Harvest North Florida has helped feed hungry children in north Florida for the past 33 years. Chick-fil-A® at Roosevelt Square is partnering for the sixth consecutive year with Second Harvest to provide delicious lunches for summer programs serving children in low-income neighborhoods.
In Duval County public schools, half of all children are receiving free/reduced lunches during the school year. When the school year ends, many of these children no longer have what often is their only meal of the day available to them. The summer programs operated by nonprofit organizations and churches throughout our community provide children with a safe place to find nourishment, have positive role models and participate in educational and social development activities.
