Second Harvest benefits from Jaguars’ fans, Campbell’s Soup

The Jacksonville Jaguars may have suffered a loss to the Green Bay Packers in the Campbell’s Chunky Click for Cans Super Bowl but that doesn’t mean the team left Second Harvest North Florida empty handed.

On the contrary, the Jaguars helped earn the food bank 12,000 cans of donated soup from Campbell’s, which has been running its Click for Cans Challenge for the past 10 years.

In the end, the true winners will be the more than 500 agencies Second Harvest North Florida serves.

“Nearly 50 million Americans face hunger on a daily basis and finding nutritious foods has become even more of a struggle during these tough economic times,” Doug Montgomery, Director of Corporate Partnerships for Feeding America told The Business Wire. “Every donation of Chunky soup provides the sort of nourishment that people really need.” 

Jacksonville went undefeated during the regular season, a perfect 17-0 mark, before defeating both Indianapolis and Buffalo in the playoffs to claim the AFC crown. Fans of every NFL team could log onto the Click for Cans Challenge website each week to vote for their favorite squad, which was matched up against the same team the actual NFL team was playing on the field that week. The teams with the four best records in each conference moved on to the playoffs with Green Bay advancing to the Super Bowl from the NFC and Jacksonville representing the AFC after a furious weekend rally against Buffalo.
