Restaurants come together at annual event to help solve hunger in the community.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Nearly 70 local restaurants and beverage wholesalers came together Thursday evening, June 6, to showcase specialties dishes and drinks to some 1,200 attendees gathered at the Touchdown Club at EverBank Field during the 23rd Annual Jacksonville FOODFIGHT benefiting Nourishment Network North Florida.

This month, Nourishment Network North Florida received a $10,000 grant from the National Dairy Council to support the Health Begins Before Birth program. This generous gift will allow the program to serve 50 additional pregnant women this year. The grant could not have come at a more appropriate time, since June is National Dairy Month.

Nourishment Network North Florida is expanding its operations in St Johns County. We have moved into a much larger facility which will allow us to distribute far more food to the hungry men, women and children of St Johns, Flagler and Putnam Counties. Also, the new facility will allow Nourishment Network to collect more fresh produce from area farms to be distributed to the hungry. 

We still need the following items in order to open the new St Johns County Distribution Center....

6,300 SF WAREHOUSE FACILITY WILL SERVE ST. JOHNS, PUTNAM AND FLAGLER

JACKSONVILLE, FL - A recent $75,000 challenge grant from an anonymous foundation will enable Nourishment Network North Florida to move into and renovate a larger food distribution hub near St. Augustine. The planned facility will substantially increase Nourishment Network's ability to meet a rapidly growing demand for its services.

The Community Safety Net Fund has pledged to support Nourishment Network North Florida with a $111,600 grant to acquire scanning technology and add a larger truck for more efficient distribution. Also, the grant will fund renovation of a St. Augustine warehouse to alleviate pressure on the Duval County warehouse and more effectively distribute fresh food in Jacksonville.
