September marks the third annual Hunger Action Month, an opportunity to place a spotlight on the issue of domestic hunger while creating opportunities for people on the First Coast and abroad to participate in the ongoing battle against it.
The effort is sponsored by Feeding America, the national association of food banks of which Second Harvest is a member, to raise awareness for the fight against hunger - and to show people just how big a contribution they can make simply through awareness of the cause.

Did you know that for every $1 donated, Second Harvest North Florida is able to generate six meals for people in need – or two full days of meals for a person who is hungry? No gift is too small, and every gift makes a profound difference in the lives of those among us who are facing critical needs.
Second Harvest relies on thousands of volunteers every year to supplement the work of our small staff. Our year-round projects offer rewarding ways for individuals and groups of all kinds to contribute their time, talents and resources. In addition, we often call upon volunteers for special events and other urgent needs.
