Second Harvest North Florida relies on thousands of volunteers every year to supplement the work of our small staff. Our year-round projects offer rewarding ways for individuals and groups of all kinds to contribute their time, talents and resources. In addition, we often call upon volunteers for special events and other urgent needs. Contact Leah Bezares at 904.353.3663, or e-mail her at volunteer@wenourishhope.org to schedule a volunteer shift or learn more.
There are many ways you can volunteer with Second Harvest:
Volunteers are needed to help with food sorting, boxing and shelving. Individuals and groups are welcome to volunteer Monday - Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Groups of volunteers are invited to join us for Second Saturday at Second Harvest, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., every month. To ensure that everyone’s time is used most productively, please schedule your volunteers hours ahead of time by contacting Leah Bezares.
Due to the nature of a warehouse, we ask that all volunteers be middle-school aged and older. All volunteers under the age of 16 need to be accompanied by an adult. Open-toe shoes are NOT allowed on the warehouse floor at Second Harvest.
Our volunteers work some of the premier social and food security fund-raising and awareness-building events in North Florida, including the Empty Bowls Luncheon and Jacksonville FOODFIGHT. To learn more about our upcoming events that support the Food Bank, click here.
