Jaguar fans will battle it out each week in the fight against hunger by using their computers to make a difference in their community. Each week the Jaguars will be matched up against another NFL team. Fans from both teams can vote once each day to help the Jaguars win for that week. The top eight teams advance to the “playoffs” following the regular season. Fans will have an opportunity to vote for the top AFC and NFC teams, which will then be matched up in the Chunky championship. One overall winner will take home the “Click For Cans” crown. 

Second Harvest North Florida is teaming up with First Coast News and the United Way for the second year in a row to ensure that needy families have enough food.

The Be A Hero Food Drive will culminate with a community-wide event Sept. 24-25.

First Coast News will be at various collection sites, including the Orange Park Mall and the St. Johns Town Center.

The donations will benefit the families and children served by the agencies that Second Harvest North Florida.

This September marks the second Hunger Action Month, an opportunity to place a spotlight on the issue of domestic hunger while creating opportunities for people on the First Coast and abroad to participate in the ongoing battle against it – either through volunteering, giving or advocacy.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – At a time when more and more families in Florida face the threat of going hungry, Second Harvest North Florida announced today that Chase will donate of two state-of-the-art refrigerated food delivery trucks, supplying the First Coast’s hungry with fruits, vegetables and other fresh foods. Chase also generously donated funds to operate each of these trucks for the first year.

Second Harvest North Florida welcomed Food Network star Paula Deen to its warehouse on Thursday, June 17, 2010 – in addition to the arrival of more than 30,000 pounds of ham, courtesy of Smithfield Foods and its “Helping Hungry Homes” initiative.

The 20th Annual Jacksonville FOODFIGHT on June 10, 2010, proved to be the biggest and best party in the history of the event – attracting more participants, more patrons and more dollars than ever before.
